Certified Transcripts: What Attorneys Should Actually Check

A certified transcript is only as useful as the review it gets before it goes into the file.

Cover Page and Appearances

Case caption, date, location, and every appearance should match the notice. Corrections here are cheap on day one and expensive on day thirty.

Exhibits and Numbering

Every marked exhibit should be listed and match what was displayed on the record. Gaps or duplicates are the most common issue that surfaces during trial prep.

Errata Turnaround

Track witness signature deadlines. Missing an errata window can limit what you can rely on later.
